16 Sep Trader of the week: East Lancs couple are cleaning up in business
A HUSBAND and wife duo from East Lancashire recently launched a waste disposal and house clearance business to meet the demand of excess waste that’s been building up because of lockdown.
Furnell-Roberts House Clearance, Removals & Waste Disposal Specialists was set up by Adrian Roberts and Vicky Furnell-Roberts.
Since its launch Vicky said that the company is in huge demand and they have been busy with bookings.
She said: “We have over 30 years’ combined experience in the industry.
“We have strong relationships with local estate agents, providing clearance and removal services and we work with the local community to try and reduce the amount of fly tipping.”
Following reports of un-emptied bins across Blackburn and Darwen, Vicky said that the demand for rubbish clearance and bin emptying has been high.
She said: “Because of lockdown it has been especially hard for people to cope with the amount of extra rubbish.
“The council haven’t emptied their bins as they should and it has been distressing for many. We also help estate agents that have been left with items in rented properties.”
Vicky said that the company is an ethical and responsible company and they recycle or re-home as much as they can to avoid using landfill.
She said: “We are working hard to inform and educate the local community about the dangers of using unscrupulous and unlicensed traders for waste disposal and house clearance.
“We have seen a rise in fly tipping, particularly over lockdown, and we are trying to do our bit to reduce this by informing people of what they need to check for when employing companies.”
House clearance and removals has been Vicky’s family business since she was a small child growing up in Blackburn.
Adrian trained and worked in Bolton as an engineer, and when they met, eleven years ago, Adrian joined the family business.
